Interesting article in Atlantic Monthly regarding a study on losing one's virginity and its effect on sexuality later in life. I almost always ask clients about their first time as a way of understanding their initial experiences with sex. Sometimes the event has had a profound effect, for example, when sex was coerced or it happened under shameful circumstances, like while drunk. Sometimes people describe well thought out, planned, romantic experiences. It's a fascinating topic that isn't well understood.
